What About Delightful Rug Pads

August 2nd, 2010

With the addition of a rug pad, that friction and wear and tear is slowed down, thus extending the life of your rug. Obviously this is like rug pads. While this could be done, it is not something that you want to do if you want the job completed the right way. A rug pad can serve the same purpose for your rug.

The rug pad adds another layer of cushioning to make your walk across the rug even more comforting. If you don’t have anything underneath your rug, this dirt will just sit there and grind away at the bottom of your rug as it is walked on. But has little, or nothing, to do with pads usually. There are three reasons that using a quality rug pad is important.

Replacing flooring is nothing short of expensive but with the protection of a rug pad you will find that you don’t have the same need to replace it. What about safety? Have you ever walked on a rug – especially on a runner – and have it slip underneath you? Have you ever tripped on a curled up edge of a rug walking into a room? In these days of ready law-suits, the last thing you want is a hazard waiting to happen – most importantly to keep you and your family safe, but also to prevent unfortunate accidents for guests. This is similar to felt pads frequently. There is nothing worse than a rug that is not laying flush on the ground.

Rug pads aid in the prevention of bacteria, odor, mildew and mold build up. Protects your floor from being scratched by the bottom of your rug – often, rugs are built on a backing of unfinished cotton or wool. Again, the pad is used as a buffer between the rug itself and the floor that is underneath.

Rug pads do a terrific job of holding area rugs of any sort: seagrass, shag rugs, sisal rugs, wool rugs, jute rugs, even bamboo rugs-any type of area you can imagine, a rug pad can help secure. And one final tip, when laying your rug pad down, make sure you read the instructions to ensure you are putting the right side down – some pads have different textures on the bottom to help it grip better to the floor. No matter who is installing your new rugs, make sure that you do your research into the pad that is being used. The benefits of rug pads far exceed the inexpensive price of acquiring them as they are very affordable.
